My grandpa's pencil sharpening trick saved my sketchbook
He told me to always sharpen pencils over a trash can, never over the page, because graphite dust smears and ruins shading. I laughed it off until last Sunday when I did it my way and ruined a 3-hour portrait of my dog. Has anyone else gotten old-school advice that actually made a huge difference in their art or journaling?

Learned that one the hard way with charcoal, now I tape a paper towel under my page before I even start.
