My neighbor called my record collection a waste of space and I almost agreed with him
I was sorting through my vinyl collection last weekend when my neighbor Mike saw me hauling boxes and said 'you know all that stuff is just taking up room, right?' At first I was annoyed but then I actually looked at my shelves. I have like 30 records I've never played because I bought them for the artwork or because they were $3 at a thrift store. He made me realize I was treating my hobby like a storage unit instead of something I actually do. Has anyone else caught themselves collecting analog stuff just to have it instead of using it?

Well I guess that makes me the proud owner of the world's most expensive wallpaper, so jokes on me. At least my living room looks real nice while I'm waiting for my hearing to come back.

I picked up about 15 records from a garage sale last year just for the covers. The vinyl was scratched to hell but the sleeves were gorgeous old jazz and folk art. @faith_king, if you ever run into a bargain like that, just keep the sleeves and sell the records for a buck each to someone who cleans them up. You can frame the good ones or trade them with other collectors who do the same thing. It's not getting played, it's just a different way to enjoy the music.
