Pro tip: a guy at the library book sale in Dayton told me hand-bound journals use 4 stitches per inch, not 2
I was flipping through some old craft books at a library sale in Dayton and a volunteer who makes his own notebooks said 4 stitches per inch or more is what keeps pages from pulling loose over the years. I had been doing 2 per inch on my leather journals for a while and sure enough, a few of them were getting wobbly at the spine. Tried the 4-per-inch thing on a new one a couple weeks back and the block feels so much tighter already. Has anyone else heard a rule of thumb for stitch spacing, or do you just eyeball it?
