Pro tip: don't try to carve a spoon from green wood in your living room on a rainy Tuesday
I was on my porch last week but the rain forced me inside and now there's wood shavings all over my carpet and my girlfriend is mad but at least the spoon didn't split so has anyone else made a mess they regret doing indoors?

Green wood is actually wet wood, not unseasoned, so it shouldn't split on you.

Oh man, you nailed it! I tried splitting some fresh oak once and it was like trying to cut through a wet sponge. The maul just bounced right off, didn't even leave a mark. That wood was so full of moisture it practically squished when I grabbed it. Let it sit for a few months and then it splits like butter once it dries out a bit. People don't realize how much water is actually in there until they try to work with it.

Honestly @ellis.leo's point about green wood being full of water really hits on something bigger, it's the same with everything else in life where we rush into something without letting it settle first. Like how people try to fix relationships right after a fight instead of cooling down, or bake bread with dough that hasn't rested properly, it always ends messier than if you just wait. Ngl I've learned that lesson the hard way way too many times, from woodworking to cooking to arguments with my girlfriend.
