Pro tip: dry erase board beats phone notes for garage projects

I spent 6 months in Dayton losing track of which lumber sizes I actually needed for my shed build, kept checking my phone mid-cut and smearing sawdust all over the screen. Picked up a $12 dry erase board at Home Depot last month, wrote out my cut list in permanent marker columns, and crossed each one off with a grease pencil after the saw stop. No more scrolling, no more dead battery, just a glance over my shoulder while my hands stayed on the workpiece. The trick is using old t-shirt scraps as the eraser, because the cheap felt ones leave streaks and then you misread a measurement. Anyone else switched back to paper or boards for their workshop planning, or am I the only one who got tired of cleaning sawdust out of a phone case?

Heard a guy on a podcast say the same thing about whiteboards in the shop. Said his phone ended up covered in grease and he missed half his cuts. Sounds like you found the better way.
