Stuck my hand in a wet clay bag at 6 AM and finally got it

Been avoiding hand-building for years because my pinch pots always looked like sad blobs. But last Sunday I just grabbed a lump of reclaim clay, no plan, and made a lopsided mug in 20 minutes. The rough texture actually feels better in my hands than the wheel-thrown stuff I make. Anyone else find that letting go of control makes the result more honest?

Isn't it wild how the messed up stuff turns out to be the keeper? I did the same thing with a bowl that was supposed to be a gift, but I just let it sag and wobble, and now it's my favorite thing to eat cereal out of. The wheel stuff feels too perfect and fake sometimes, but that lumpy bowl has all my fingerprint dents in it like a record of my morning brain.
