The library book sale that changed my journaling setup

Last month I hit a used book sale at the county library and picked up a 1950s field notebook for a dollar. The paper is this thin, slightly yellowed stuff with grid lines, and my pen just glides on it. I started using it for my daily sketch log, pairing a quick ink drawing of something I saw on my mail route with three lines of notes. It's been 6 weeks now and I've filled 40 pages, which is more than I did in the previous year with a fancy dotted journal. Has anyone else switched to older paper and noticed it changes how you write or draw?

Old paper just has a different vibe, like it's already got stories soaked into it... my grandpa's old ledger from his farm does the same thing for me, I end up doing sketches I'd never try in a fresh notebook.
