Trying to hand-stitch a journal left me with more knots than pages
I somehow managed to tie the thread into a ball that took another hour to undo.

What kind of thread were you even using? I mean, the knots are honestly the worst part of trying to sew anything by hand. It feels like the thread just wants to tie itself into a tiny angry fist. I've had to just cut things loose before because untangling it was making me too mad.

That thread wasn't just knotted, it was actively fighting back. You didn't buy sewing supplies, you brought home a tiny spiteful nemesis. What's next, it starts tying itself around your fingers when you're not looking?

Honestly the WORST is when you're in a hurry and the thread just coils up with pure malice. @jason480 is totally right about it being a tiny nemesis, it has a mind of its own. You try to gently pull it straight and it just bunches up tighter like a spring. That feeling when it secretly wraps around the spool holder three times while you're not looking is real betrayal. It's not just being tangled, it's actively SABOTAGING your project out of spite. Sometimes you have to just accept defeat and throw the whole spool away.
