Developing B&W film in my kitchen got way easier after a trip to the hardware store

Last month I was getting frustrated with temp swings in my sink during winter, so I picked up a cheap fish tank heater for $15. Now I put my chemical bottles in a plastic tub with the heater set to 68F and they stay rock steady for the whole session. Has anyone else tried aquarium gear for temp control or am I the only one going this route?

Used to think temp control was overkill but this definitely changed my mind.

Oh man, that's brilliant! I've been using an old sous vide circulator for the same thing and it works like a charm.

Three years back I rigged an old Crock-Pot with a thermostat from a broken water heater and it kept my starter within a single degree for 48 hours straight. The real trick nobody talks about is putting a layer of oil on top of the dough so it doesn't dry out during those long proofing times. Have you tried that with your sous vide setup?
