Guy at a garage sale in Boise told me my Agfa lens was junk, should I have listened?
Honestly I was digging through a $5 bin at a garage sale in Boise last month and some older guy told me my Agfa lens was soft and I should stick with my Nikon glass. Tbh I shot a roll anyway and the photos came out dreamy in a way my sharp lens never does, so now I wonder if his advice was really about what matters. Do you trust old timers' takes on gear or just shoot what feels right to you?
Oh man, I've been there! Bought a beat up old Vivitar years ago and some guy at a camera shop told me it was trash, but those soft dreamy shots ended up being my favorites. Old timers know sharp and clean, but they forget that gear is about the LOOK you want. Shoot what feels right, the guy at the garage sale wasn't the one paying for your film.
