Switched from a changing bag to a dark closet and my scratched negs dropped to almost zero
For about 6 months I was loading my Hewes reels inside a changing bag on my kitchen table, and I kept getting these fine scratches and half moon crimps on my Tri-X. I blamed the reels, bought new ones, blamed my hands, then last month I taped off the window in my closet in Boise and turned it into a poor man's darkroom. Total cost was like $14 in tape, and my next 4 rolls came out clean with zero scratches because my forearms weren't fighting the bag fabric. I mean the bag still comes on trips, but at home I'm never going back. Anyone else find their loading problems were really just a space problem?
