The day my tank developer turned pink, saved by a roll of Tri-X

Last Tuesday I mixed my usual D-76 batch and the solution came out pinkish, not clear at all. I thought I grabbed the wrong bottle, but turns out my thermometer drifted and the temp hit 78 degrees during the process. That roll of Tri-X from the flea market shoot in Beacon came out grainy but the contrast was actually amazing. Has anyone else had a weird accidental temp swing give them results they ended up liking?

Man, I used to be a stickler about temps, like everything had to be perfect or I'd toss the batch, but after seeing shots from a roll that got cooked in a hot car once, I totally get how a happy accident can win you over. That pink D-76 thing sounds wild, but the grain and contrast you got from the high temp is exactly the kind of look I used to chase with expensive tricks, and here it just happened by chance. It’s funny how the stuff we fight against sometimes ends up being the best look, so I’m all for letting the thermometer slip every now and then.
