Binged a 90-episode anime in one weekend and my PS5 crashed on episode 87

I was watching One Piece through Crunchyroll on my PS5 and the system just shut down from overheating around 3 AM Saturday. Anyone else's console struggle with long streaming sessions like that?

Your PS5 probably needed a break after that many episodes in a row. Letting it rest for an hour between long streams might help keep the fans from working overtime.

...and I actually read somewhere that the PS5's thermal paste can get less effective after a lot of heavy use, especially if you're streaming for hours on end. I had a similar thing happen with my Xbox a few years ago during a long movie marathon, and it turned out the fan was just caked with dust. Might be worth checking your console's vents, I bet they're a little clogged after 87 episodes straight. Also, setting the system to rest mode for ten minutes between big chunks of streaming could let the cooler catch up without you having to fully shut down.

Check your power outlet too. Mine was plugged into a strip with too many other devices. Made the system act weird after a few hours.
