I used to think anime discussion groups were just people yelling about power scaling, so I avoided them for like 5 years. Then last month I went to a local meetup at a comic shop in Columbus and someone broke down the pacing of a 2018 show using a simple stopwatch, showing how 3 minutes of recap hurt tension every single episode.
