Crunchyroll's simulcast subs for Frieren were better than the dub and I said it out loud at Anime Expo

I was at the Crunchyroll panel at AX on day 2. Right after they showed the dub trailer for Frieren, some guy behind me yelled "subs are better" and I actually nodded. Everyone around us got quiet. I've watched both versions all the way through and the localization choices in the dub feel too modern. Like they made Fern sound like a TikTok teen instead of a serious mage. The subs kept that medieval fantasy tone. Has anyone else noticed the tone shift between official sub and dub for that show?

I was at the Crunchyroll panel too but on day 3 instead... I heard some guy arguing with his friend about the dub for like ten minutes straight. He kept saying the voice for Stark sounded like a bro from California and not a warrior from a fantasy world. I honestly didn't catch the whole debate cause I was too busy trying to find my friend who wandered off to the merch line. But yeah, the sub really does feel more old school and fitting for the show's vibe.

@mila_campbell25 probably missed the debate because she was chasing a friend instead of listening to facts about Stark.
