Right, so I had a similar thing happen but with Fist of the North Star. I used to always skip the openings because I thought they were just filler music until I was at a buddy's house and he got legit mad at me for skipping the "Ai wo Torimodose!!" part. He was like "dude that's the whole point, it gets you hyped for the punches." Now I'm one of those people that sits through the full OP even if it's a three minute long song about friendship or whatever. I mean, you gotta respect the vibe setting, right?

Yes! Same thing happened to me with the original Dragon Ball Z opening "Cha La Head Cha La." I used to skip it every time on the old VHS tapes we had. My older brother caught me doing it once and literally stopped the tape, rewound it, and made me watch the whole thing while he explained how the song was basically Goku's whole life philosophy. Now I never skip openings either. Even the super long ones with slow piano parts, I just sit there and let it play because it really does set the whole mood for whatever crazy stuff is about to happen.
