Overheard a group of teens arguing that Dragon Ball Z is 'too slow' for modern anime viewers

I was eating lunch at a food court last Saturday and some high school kids next to me were debating old vs new shonen. One of them said he tried watching DBZ Kai and still thought the fights dragged on forever. That got me thinking about pacing and how we all got used to 12 episode seasons with nonstop action. Has anyone else had a younger fan tell them a classic show felt boring compared to stuff like Demon Slayer?

Kai cut the filler but the Saiyan fight on Namek still took thirty episodes for five minutes.
