PSA: My view on binge-watching anime flipped after seeing my cousin's watch party

I always thought marathoning shows alone was best, but the group reactions and jokes added so much. Now I get why people save episodes for watch parties (it just hits different).

My first time at Anime Expo a few years back totally changed how I see certain shows. I watched a premiere with a huge crowd, and hearing everyone gasp or laugh at the same jokes completely rewired my brain on a scene I’ve since rewatched alone. It’s like the group’s energy got baked into my memory of it. I still do most of my watching solo for convenience, but I finally get the hype for sharing those bigger moments.

Which show was it that hit different with the crowd?

Honestly, crowds can totally RUIN a show for me. Getting pulled out of the story by someone's loud reaction just kills the mood. I need to soak in the details on my own time, without all that group noise. Sure, shared laughs are fun, but they don't make the MEMORY better for everyone. Personal viewing lets me catch things I'd miss in a crowd.
