Talked to a guy at the con about the state of shonen anime
Ran into a guy at Anime NYC last weekend who said most shonen follows the same 3 act formula now and I couldnt brush it off. He pointed out how Jujutsu Kaisen and My Hero Academia both have that tournament arc with a twist, and now I notice it in everything I watch. Anyone else feel like the genre is getting stale or am I just overthinking it?

Three tournament arcs in a row" is exactly why I tapped out too @the_linda. It's like they ran out of ideas and just kept recycling the same formula over and over. Honestly felt like I was watching the same arc three times with different characters.
