Took me 4 rewatches to realize I was skipping the wrong episodes of Legend of the Galactic Heroes

I always skipped the side episodes about the Terraist Church thinking they were filler. About 2 months ago I actually watched them and realized they set up a huge plot point for the final arc. Anyone else skip episodes they thought were pointless?

Honestly I feel attacked, I skipped those too and then had to google why the ending made no sense. Nothing like realizing you played yourself for 100 episodes.
