Used to watch subs with my phone in my hand, now I leave it in the other room during one episode.
Switched after I realized I missed a key plot twist in season 3 of a 90s mecha show because I was scrolling Twitter, and now I actually remember character names for the first time in years, has anyone else noticed how much more you get out of a show when you force yourself to focus?.

Oh man, @emery_white I get the background noise thing but for me it kills the whole vibe. I used to half-watch while scrolling and now I'm catching tiny details like background character reactions I never noticed before. Plus I finally know which mech pilot is which without looking up their wiki page mid episode.

Focusing more is great, but sometimes I need background noise to get through a slow episode.
