Almost set a dryer on fire last Tuesday in Denver

I was swapping a drum belt on a Whirlpool at a rental property. Got sloppy and left a rag near the heating element. Owner came back in and saw smoke before I did. Lucky I caught it early. Now I do a full walk around before I power anything up. That rag could've cost me my license. Anyone else have a close call like that?

Told my wife the same thing yesterday and my car overheated on the highway.
