Customer told me to stop using so much dielectric grease on every connection
Some HVAC guy watched me slather it on a control board plug and said I was trapping moisture instead of blocking it. Switched to a thin coating on just the terminals and haven't had a callback since. Anyone else been using grease wrong this whole time?

Wait, didn't somebody test this and find out too much grease actually keeps the pins from making good contact in the first place?

@emma_dixon70 you're totally right actually. I tried that super thick di-electric grease once on my truck's tail light harness and it made the connection worse, not better. Ended up having to wipe most of it off before the lights would work right again. A thin barely-there coating is all you need, anything more just pushes the pins apart or traps dirt in there. Learned that one the hard way after chasing a phantom brake light issue for two weekends straight.

Didn't a buddy of mine use that thick grease and his turn signals went crazy?
