Ditched the factory bearing grease for corn head grease, 3 years of dryer drum noise gone

I had a Maytag dryer that kept squealing every 6 months no matter how many times I replaced the drum rollers. Finally I tried packing the bearings with corn head grease instead of the standard lithium stuff, since a farmer buddy swore by it for high-heat applications. That was 14 months ago in Ohio and the drum still spins silent. But part of me wonders if I just got lucky with a better batch of rollers this time. Anyone else experiment with oddball greases on dryers or washing machines?

Did you try the corn head grease on the rollers themselves or just the bearing sleeves? I did the same trick on my old Whirlpool after fighting with that squeal for years, and it's been two winters of heavy use without a peep. I'm pretty sure it's the grease not luck, that stuff handles heat way better than the factory goop.
