Heads up on those new Samsung fridge ice makers, the service mode trick actually fixed a phantom error code for me
Customer in Tempe had a unit throwing a '5E' error but the ice maker looked fine, so I held the freezer door switch and pressed the ice type button 3 times to clear it. Anyone else run into this and found a better fix?

Did the error code come back after you cleared it, or has it stayed gone? I'm curious if this is a real fix or just a temporary reset that will pop up again in a few days.

About it being a temporary reset, that's exactly what I'm worried about too. Clearing a code doesn't fix the problem that caused it. It'll probably be back once the car's computer runs its checks again.

Isn't it possible that clearing the code is the actual fix? Sometimes these things just get stuck in a weird electronic state and need a hard reset, like rebooting a computer. I had a similar glitch on my own fridge and that button trick worked for good, it never came back. @grant.susan makes a good point about checking if it returns, but maybe it won't! These machines can just throw false errors sometimes, and a manual clear is the real solution, not just a band-aid.
