It took me 7 years to figure out I was stripping my dryer drum with a cheap scouring pad

I was scrubbing off residue on a Samsung dryer last month and noticed the drum looked all scratched up. A senior tech saw my work and told me to use a microfiber cloth with rubbing alcohol instead, works way better and doesn't ruin the finish. Has anyone else made that mistake with their own gear?

Never used steel wool but I wrecked a stainless fridge with baking soda.

And isn't that just the story of our lives with cleaning products? You think you're being careful and using the "safe" option, and then boom, it's actually the one that strips the finish. It's like the universe decided we can't win no matter what we try. I swear there's some secret rule that every "gentle" cleaner is secretly a harsh abrasive in disguise. You'd think by now they'd just put a warning label on baking soda for stainless steel.

Wait how did baking soda wreck the fridge though? I mean I've used it on stainless before and it seemed fine. Like was it the powder scratching the surface or did you let it sit too long? I'm genuinely curious cause I almost did the same thing last week but chickened out.
