Just switched from OEM belts to generics for my dryers in Tucson
I know most guys in here swear by OEM belts for dryers. But after 8 years doing this in Tucson, I started using generic belts from a local supply house about 6 months ago. They cost me $3.50 each compared to $12 for the name brand ones. I was skeptical at first but I figured I'd test them on my own machines before using them for customers. I put one on my personal Whirlpool and it's been running 4 loads a week without any issue. The tension feels the same and the rubber compound seems just as durable. I've now done 22 customer repairs with them and zero callbacks so far. Has anyone else gone the generic route and had good luck with it?

Same story with furnace filters, the generics work just as well.

Always bought the expensive ones until a buddy set me straight, you're right.

Wait, you're serious? I always thought the cheap ones were like... barely filtering anything. My dad told me once that the cheap filters just blow the dust right through them and clog up the blower motor over time. I've been paying like $20 each for the name brand ones for years now. That's wild if I've been wasting all that money.
