Noticed a HUGE difference in my dryer vent cleaning after switching tools

For years I used one of those basic brush kits on a drill. Thought I was doing a solid job getting the lint out. Then last month I picked up a proper rotary kit with flexible rods that connect together. Ran it through a 25 foot run I had serviced just 3 months prior. I pulled out almost a full grocery bag of compacted lint that my old brush had clearly just been pushing around. The airflow difference after was INSANE, the dryer cycle time dropped by nearly 20 minutes. Has anyone else seen that big of a change just from upgrading your cleaning gear?

Not enough people talk about how the rod material matters, like a lot. The cheap plastic ones can actually flex and skip over clogs, while the better nylon or metal rods keep tension and really grab the lint in those tight corners. I swapped to a set with a bullet shaped tip instead of a flat brush and it made a world of difference, no more just tamping everything down into a solid plug.

Yeah @jamie770 is spot on about the rod material, I found that out the hard way after snapping a cheap plastic rod inside my vent and having to fish it out with a coat hanger. The bullet tip thing is legit too, my old flat brush was basically just giving the lint a gentle massage and pushing it further down the line. Pretty sure I could have stuffed a whole pillow in there with how compacted it got from my "cleaning" routine.
