Pro tip: Hit the 1,000 dryer vent clean mark and learned something surprising

I got curious last month when I pulled a clog out of a LG dryer in Maplewood and realized it was my 1,000th vent cleaning since I started keeping track back in 2019. What really got me was how many of those vents had the same issue - people using those flexible foil hoses that trap lint like crazy. I swapped a client's crunchy old foil hose for a smooth metal one and her drying time dropped from 75 minutes to 45. Has anyone else noticed certain setups that just cause more problems than others?

Oh wow that's really interesting... I actually read somewhere that those foil hoses cause more house fires than people realize because the ridges catch so much lint. My brother had one in his rental and the landlord wouldn't let him change it out even though the dryer was taking forever. He finally just bought a metal one and swapped it himself after the tenant before him had a lint fire scare.

Swapped to rigid metal pipe last year. Total game changer.

Check if that rigid pipe has smooth interior joints? Those catch lint too.
