Rant: wiring harnesses used to last 15 years, now I'm lucky to get 5

I pulled a compressor out of a 2005 fridge last Tuesday and the harness looked brand new. That same model from 2021, the wires were brittle and cracked right at the connector. I've been in this trade since 1998, and I swear the plastic compounds they use now are garbage. It's not just cheap parts, the whole design philosophy shifted to planned obsolescence. I replaced three identical harnesses just last month in Columbus. Anyone else notice a cliff around 2015 or so with OEM wiring quality?

Figured I was just unlucky with newer wiring, but hearing it from someone else makes me think the plastics really did change. I remember pulling old harnesses that flexed like rubber, while the new ones snap if you look at them wrong. Your 2015 cutoff matches what I've seen in the field too, so I'm starting to believe it's not coincidence.
