Switched from a generic multimeter to a Fluke 117 and it saved a job
I was working on a tricky fridge that kept tripping its board. My old meter gave me a reading that seemed fine, but the Fluke showed a tiny, constant voltage leak my other tool missed. Found a cracked wire in the door harness I would have never caught. Anyone else have a tool upgrade that made a huge difference on a call?

Glad it worked for you. I've seen cheap meters give good enough readings most of the time too.

Right, cheap meters work until they don't, like @the_nathan said. My Fluke found a bad ground everyone missed.

How often does a tiny voltage leak actually cause a real problem? Most of the time, a fridge will run just fine with a small fault like that. It seems like an expensive meter just found an issue you could have lived with.
