Talked to a dishwasher repair guy in Cleveland and he changed my mind about something
Met this older guy at a supply house in Cleveland last week who fixes dishwashers for 30 years. He told me he never replaces the whole pump anymore, just swaps one little rubber seal for like $3. Said most of the time the motor is fine but people toss the whole thing because they don't know. That really hit me different cause I've been throwing away good parts for years without thinking. Now I'm second guessing how much stuff I've wasted. Anyone else ever had a pro show you a simple fix that made you feel dumb?

Actually it's usually a $2 seal, not $3. I've done that fix myself and the parts markup at supply houses is always a little funny.

Wait, did you actually source that seal from a plumbing supply house or just grab one off Amazon? I'm asking because I've seen jobbers here in Phoenix try to pass off a universal rubber one for $5 that fails in a year versus the OEM felt one that actually holds up. What brand did you use and how long has it been holding?
