Update: a 2008 Maytag dryer kicked my butt for two hours before I found the real problem
Had a dryer call last Tuesday in a little town about 40 miles out, guy said it ran but never got hot. I checked the vent first and it was clear, then ohmed the heating element and it read good at around 10 ohms, so I figured the thermal fuse was toast. Swapped it, buttoned it up, ran it for 15 minutes and it stayed cold as a rock. Turned out the timer contacts on that model were burnt and it never sent power to the element at all, which is why my meter readings fooled me. Took me two hours and one wasted fuse to get there, and I should have checked voltage at the element first instead of trusting the ohms. Has anyone else got a foolproof order for chasing a no heat on these older Maytags?
