Found a roman coin in my own backyard last week and it blew my mind

I was digging a hole for a new fence post in my yard near Richmond, Virginia and pulled out this tiny bronze coin that looked ancient. Turns out it was a roman bronze from 300 AD, probably brought over by a collector or something but still wild to hold something that old. A guy at the local archaeology club ID'd it as a Constantius II follis. Anyone else ever stumble on something way out of place like that?

Found a friend of mine years ago who was fixing up an old farmhouse in rural New Hampshire and found a clay pipe bowl from like the 1600s tucked behind a beam in the basement. It was this weird little personal artifact, you know, not some major historical thing but someone's actual smoking pipe from centuries ago. He took it to a local museum and they said it was probably dropped by an early English settler, which is way older than anything you'd expect to find up there. Still can't wrap my head around how it survived all that time without getting crushed or lost.

Did the archaeology club give you any tips on preserving the patina?
