I thought the whole 'lost city in the Amazon' thing was just hype
Honestly, I rolled my eyes for years at those stories about ancient cities hidden under the jungle. It sounded like movie stuff. But the lidar scans from Bolivia last year changed my mind completely. They showed over 20 settlements connected by roads, some with pyramids. Seeing the actual grid layouts and the scale of it, covering something like 50 square miles, made it real. It wasn't just a few huts. Has anyone else gone from total skeptic to believer on a big find like this?

Yeah the "grid layouts" part got me too. I mean, that's not just some random village, that's serious planning. Makes you wonder what else we've missed because it's just buried under a few hundred years of dirt and plants.

Remember that old farm field near the highway they turned into a parking lot last year? They dug up a whole system of clay pipes for draining the land, like from the 1800s. It was just there under the grass the whole time.
