Just read that the Great Pyramid of Giza was originally covered in polished white limestone

I was browsing through an old National Geographic from 2005 and stumbled on a fact about the Great Pyramid. Apparently it was encased in highly polished Tura limestone that would have reflected the sun like a mirror. Can anyone recommend a good book or documentary that goes into more detail about how it looked back then?

Oh wow, I bet that thing must have been blinding to look at in the desert sun.

Wait, have you actually SEEN one of these things in person? I totally agree though, my cousin dragged me out to some antique shop in Arizona and I swear that thing was like staring into the SUN. The chrome was SO polished you literally had to squint just to look at it from across the room. I bet in the desert heat it was basically a giant mirror cooking everything around it. Makes me wonder how they even drove it without burning their retinas out.

Man, that sounds wild. I've never seen one in person but your story makes me almost feel the heat coming off it. That level of chrome polish in the Arizona sun must have been brutal, like having a second sun right there in the shop. I bet your cousin was squinting the whole time, probably gave them a headache just looking at it.
