My field notebook got soaked in a flash flood at the Mesa Verde dig site
It happened last Tuesday when a sudden storm rolled in while we were working on the new Puebloan structure. The rain came down so fast my bag wasn't waterproof enough, and all my notes and sketches from the past week are now a blurry mess. Has anyone found a truly waterproof notebook or a better way to back up paper records on site?

Honestly, is a ruined notebook that big of a deal? It's just paper, and you probably remember most of the important stuff. Just rewrite what you can from memory.

Yeah, Adam's got a point. I spilled coffee all over my notes from a survey last month and honestly, rewriting it forced me to remember the good details. The stuff I forgot probably wasn't that key anyway. It's a pain but you'll be surprised what comes back to you. I just use cheap notebooks now and take phone pics as a backup.

Just paper" is a real kick in the teeth after you've been out there in the heat all week. That blurry mess feeling is the worst.
