That dig in New Mexico where I spent 3 days brushing dirt off a rock that was just a cow bone from the 50s
Realized I'd been scraping away for nothing when the landowner walked over and said 'that's from my granddad's old grazing lease,' so how do you vet who's been on a site before you start?

Around 2007 I spent a whole Saturday trying to fix a leaky pipe in my buddy's basement, only to find out his dad had already patched it with duct tape back in the 90s and forgot to tell him. Seems like every project I start, whether digging in dirt or fixing a sink, I end up redoing someone else's half-baked work before I even get to the real problem.

And you KNOW the previous guy probably felt REAL proud of that duct tape fix too. That's the part that gets me. They don't think about the NEXT person who has to deal with their mess. It's like they see a problem, slap on a bandaid, and then act like they're a HERO for not calling a plumber. You end up spending more time undoing their "genius" than if they'd just left it alone in the first place.

Wait, you're telling me that duct tape was from the 90s and nobody even knew it was there, @faith_thomas? That's a whole different level of lazy when the fix outlasts the memory of the fix. Some people really just slap something together and call it a day without a single thought for whoever comes next.
