Trowel sharpening with a file changed my whole dig routine

Ngl, I used to just hammer away with a dull trowel for weeks on site, especially on that clay-heavy trench in Ohio. It wore out my wrist and I kept smearing the dirt instead of cutting clean layers. Then a field supervisor showed me how to run a flat file along the edges every morning, takes like 5 minutes. I tried it on my old Marshalltown and the difference was night and day, I could feel the edge biting into the soil immediately. Now I do it before every shift and my excavation lines come out way crisper. Anyone else here bother with trowel maintenance, or do you just let it go dull until it drives you crazy?
