Unpopular opinion: my trowel handle snapped at a dig in Mesa and I think cheap gear is fine
Last Saturday at a site near Mesa my trowel handle snapped right at the ferrule while I was scraping around a sherd. I had maybe 40 minutes left in the square and no backup, so I finished with a spoon from my lunch bag. It felt dumb but the spoon actually worked fine and I got the piece out. The trowel cost me $14 two years ago so I'm not even mad. Does anyone else keep a cheap backup in their bag or am I the odd one?
