Appreciation post: The difference in my garden after switching to drip irrigation last spring
I used to water everything with a hose and sprinkler for years. This March I finally put in a basic drip system from Home Depot for about $40. The difference is wild... my tomatoes grew twice as big and I barely get any weeds now. No more watering the dirt between rows. Has anyone else seen a big change after switching methods?

Wait, you got rid of your drip system and went back to soaker hoses because of clogging? That seems wild to me. I've had my cheap Home Depot setup running for over a year now with pretty hard water and I've only had to clean out one emitter the whole time. Your squirrels must be on a whole different level if they're chewing through tubing that fast, I haven't had a single animal touch mine.

Squirrels have chewed through my drip lines three times so consider yourself lucky.

You said your tomatoes grew twice as big and you barely get any weeds now. I gotta call that out as a bit of a stretch. Look, I tried drip irrigation a few years back and it was a total headache. The emitters kept clogging up with our hard water, and I spent more time fixing leaks than actually watering. Plus, those thin tubes get chewed up by squirrels or sun rot in half a season. I'm not buying that you got no weeds either unless you put down landscape fabric under it all. Honestly, I went back to a simple soaker hose on a timer and my garden does just fine. What makes you so sure it's the drip and not just better weather this year?
