Bumped into a retired librarian at a bus stop in Denver and she totally flipped my view on book organizing

Honestly, I was just sitting there scrolling my phone when this older lady asked if I was a reader. She said she used to arrange books not by genre or author but by the color of the spine. Ngl at first I thought it sounded crazy, but she explained it helps people find books based on mood instead of memory. I tried it with my 40 book shelf last weekend and it actually makes browsing way more fun. Has anyone else tried a weird organizing system that actually worked better than normal?

Tried organizing by height once, looked cool but made finding anything a nightmare.

Yeah I did that with my spices once. Looked like a cool gradient going up the shelf but I couldn't find the cumin to save my life.
