Can we talk about the old way we used to settle bar tabs?

Back in '99 at a pub in Portland, the bartender just scratched tally marks on a napkin for my tab. Now everything is a tablet screen you gotta tip on before you even drink. Anyone else miss the trust system?

Had a bartender back in 2005 in Nashville who just kept a running total in his head for my whole group. Paid him in cash at the end of the night and he'd just nod. It's like the whole world got scared of trusting people... every little thing needs a receipt and a screen now.
