Changed my mind on self checkout after a Tuesday at the Kroger in Dayton
For a long time I refused to touch the self checkout lanes and would wait in a long line just to have a real person scan my stuff. Last Tuesday I ran into the Kroger on Smithville after my shift and the only open lane had 6 people with full carts, so I gave the machine a shot with just 9 items. It took me about 90 seconds total, and honestly the thing was faster than any cashier line I have stood in this year. What got me was the produce, I typed in the code for bananas and it just worked, no waiting for someone to look it up. I still think the stores are pushing these lanes to cut jobs, which bugs me, but as a customer on a time crunch it is hard to argue with. Does anyone else feel weird about using them for that reason, or am I the only one still hung up on it?
