Compared Google Analytics and Matomo for 3 months on my hobby site

I wanted to see if the free analytics tools were all the same. After 3 months of running both side by side on a small recipe blog, Matomo gave me way more useful data about which pages actually kept people reading. Has anyone else noticed a big difference between these two or am I just bad at reading Google's reports?

Try pulling your Google data raw from Looker Studio instead of the dashboard.

Matomo straight up shows you where people actually stop reading. Google's reports feel like they hide that stuff behind too many clicks. On my own blog I saw Matomo caught a bunch of bot traffic that Google counted as real visits. The heatmaps alone made it way easier to see what content kept people around.
