I figured out a better way to get clear answers on this forum

I was trying to get help with a car repair last week and my post got ignored. I realized I was asking a huge, messy question. So I tried something new: I wrote the title as a simple, direct question, and in the body I listed just the three key facts about my 2012 Civic. I got a useful answer in under an hour. Has anyone else found that being super specific like that works better here?

Actually, a huge messy question can work fine if it's interesting. Sometimes people want the full story to really dig into a problem. A super short post might miss the weird detail that makes the answer click.

You said you got a useful answer in under an hour, and that's great, but I wouldn't call that being "super specific." Listing three key facts is just the bare minimum for a car question. The real trick is giving the exact codes if your check engine light is on, or describing the weird noise with something better than "it makes a sound.

Yeah, exactly... like @val_williams said, you gotta say if it's a screech or a thump or a rattle. "Makes a sound" could be anything.
