My car key fob died at the worst possible moment in a Target parking lot last Saturday

I was loading groceries in 95 degree heat when the key just stopped working. Had to walk inside and ask customer service if they had a screwdriver I could borrow to pop the physical key out. Anybody else dealt with a fob dying at the most inconvenient time?

My brother swore by keeping a spare battery in his glove box and I always thought he was being paranoid. That was before my fob died on a 97 degree afternoon at a Walmart in Bakersfield. Had six bags of groceries melting in the cart and no physical key access because my car has that hidden slot design. Now I keep a stack of those CR2032 batteries in my center console and a tiny screwdriver from a eyeglass repair kit. Changed my whole view on being prepared for stuff like that.

Sunday was the actual day though, not Saturday.

Think you're missing the point a bit here. The day doesn't really matter when your fob dies and you're stuck with a trunk full of warm groceries and no way to start the car. Lucas is just sharing a real world lesson about being ready for the worst time possible, not debating calendars. Plenty of people have had their fobs go out on random Tuesdays or whatever. The takeaway is keep a spare battery handy no matter what day it is.
