PSA: That 3 AM convo with my Uber driver in Phoenix rewired my whole approach

Last Friday I got stuck in a 40 minute ride back from Sky Harbor and the driver, Marcus, just started talking about how he evaluates every fare offer based on what he calls 'opportunity cost per mile'. He broke down his weekly numbers on his phone, showed me how he skips 60% of rides even if it means sitting still, and said 'most people chase busy, not value'. It hit different because I realized I do the same thing at work with tickets and meetings, always saying yes to everything. Anyone else have a random stranger's logic completely flip how they handle their own grind?

Did he track dead time between rides before he started skipping those fares?
