Spent $300 on a fancy espresso machine and honestly I think my old $20 Moka pot makes better coffee.

I know everyone raves about the Breville as a game changer but after 3 months of dialing in grinds and temps I'm convinced it just complicates something that was already near perfect for my morning routine.

Nah that machine is absolutely worth it if you take the time to really learn it. I spent weeks pulling terrible shots before I realized my water temp was off by like 4 degrees which completely changed the flavor profile. Once you get the grind size and pressure right the crema is so thick you can actually see the oils sitting on top. Your Moka pot is just doing a forced extraction that turns bitter fast, the espresso machine gives you way more control over the sweetness and body of your shot.

Took me a solid month of bitter swamp water before I figured out my grinder was set to "pebbles" not "powder.
