That one comment about my coffee pouring changed how I brew at home
A guy at a cafe in Austin told me I was pouring too fast and letting the water channel through the grounds. He said to slow down and pour in circles for 30 seconds. I tried it next morning and my cup tasted way less bitter. Now I watch my pour speed every single time. Anyone else get a random tip that actually fixed a problem?

Slowing down the pour fixed one thing but created another problem for me. Taking 30 seconds let the water cool too much before it hit the grounds, and my coffee came out sour instead of bitter. I found a happy medium around 15 seconds with a steady swirl that works better for my setup.

Switched to a gooseneck kettle myself and that helped a ton with keeping the temp more even during a slower pour. I do about 20 seconds now with a gentle spiral and it’s been pretty consistent for me.

Ha, sounds like you're stuck between sour and bitter. Pick your poison I guess.
